I have been Leary of returning to this location but was in the mood for a great burger. I was not disappointed either. The cheese burger was awesome the fries soso I like a more well cooked fry fries could had been more cooked. However what impressed me the most was the service. Must b new managers. Greeted very warmly and food was delivered quickly. I waited a short time for my meal not like last time when I waited over 20 mins. Good job but fry ur fries more

Awesome burger! I like the ambience of the place. No frills decor. I thought it was kinda expensive when I placed my order but it turns out that it was worth every penny!

I am going to call this one the dirty dimond in the rough. The place is off of Rt 1 in DE Wicked rundown, a real hole in the wall. But when you get inside, you are greated with a hearty " Welcome to Jake's". Limited menu, burgers and such, but the food, out of this world. The burgers were so juicy and tasty, as well as the hand cut fries and real milkshakes. All I can say is the best burger under the bun.

Update: This place has steadily gone down hill since my initial review. While I initially wrote the decor is lacking it is now aged and filthy. This is simply a sign of the owner/managers neglect and apathy. The only two updates in the last 4 years is a coat of paint (which was most likely done by a the manager's kid) and the change of signage when they went from Jakes to Wayback. The air-conditioning barely works so while it sucks on hot days for the customers it must really suck for the poor workers. The food is now totally inconsistent (a sure sign of decline). I ordered the "house-made chips" and they were overly salted (this is consistent on all my recent visits) and were underdone and chewy----ugh. On the plus side, the burger was good which saved it from a downgrade to 1-star. Is there an area manager? The Jake's in West Chester is consistently good, so there is definitely a huge disconnect in their management oversight of operations. I'll check back in hopes that they improve it.

Terrible, always horrible service. We just left because we stood there for 15 min and nobody served us or took our order. This is the 3rd time. DO NOT EAT THERE!

Meh. It's alright and kind of fun. But it's not worth the hype I see in some other reviews on here. The burger was decent, but I'm not convinced it was worth the price. It's probably more impressive to teens & 20-somethings.

Once again, a food thread on Talk inspired me to try a new burger. It's not far from where I work and I have been aware of its existence for awhile but it requires a few messy left turns , so I avoided it. However it was a slow Sunday and it was mentioned in the burger thread so I made my way over. I almost thought it was closed since no one else was there. I'm thinking this is not peak time for them as they have a lot of outdoor seating. It's on a par with 5 guys, Zacs, Charlie's, etc. where they make your burger to order. I think that is what separates these places from regular fast food. A double burger with toppings , fries and a drink came to about $8, which beats 5guys by about $4. Quality it right up there. Fries were a little genaric and you don't get a whole sack full ( which is good, just the right amount). I enjoyed it and put the quality just below 5guys and a little above Wendy's. If I had $10 and had to decide between 5 guys and Jakes, I'd choose Jakes. If money wasn't an issue I'd choose 5guys. The other problem for me is , even with little crowd or traffic on a Sunday afternoon, I needed my entire 30min break to take it all in. I'm postitive I couldn't pull this off on a busy weekday. But a Sunday treat now and then would be welcomed. Hats off to Jakes for upping the burger game!

The perfect place if you're looking for an incredibly mediocre & over-priced burger. I even tried the special of the month, despite Jake's being out of a defining ingredient on Day 1 of the special (cucumbers on the California Burger) -according to the guy at the counter. The trace amount of avocado gave it a little twist, I suppose. The milkshakes??? Ho-hum. Save your time & money and move-on to Yelp's next option! I hate to leave negative feedback, but on this occasion I felt truly "inspired." :/

Quite good burger place, very close to the New Castle airport.. A group of us came here after taking a class at Flight Safety just down the road by the airport. I got a double Turkey Burger with everything (lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mustard, ketchup, jalapenos) and paid 50 cents extra for mushrooms, sot hat came to $6 and also got some of the delicious "house made chips", thick potato chips they deep fry in the restaurant which I got with a nice BBQ seasoning.. they have a good selection of shakes, which apparently are good, another member of our group got one and people were happy with their burgers... Restaurant is casual , feels like an old-fahsioned burger joint , and in fact looks to be a bit old, but clean..

Today I had the WORST fast food experience in my life. I work at Christiana Hospital in the ICU. We tend to order food on the weekends. A couple of my co workers and i decided to place an online order. When i arrived at the store, the staff was unaware that an online order was placed. Thank god i brought the emailed receipt so the cashier can ring in the order correctly I hope..I sat patiently for additional 30 mins while I watch several people come in, eat their food and leave. Not once did I receive an apology or an explanation why the order was never received until I expressed how i felt. I do admit I was not a "Happy Camper" considering I placed the order at 12 pm. Was told the pick up time was at 12:28. I arrived at 12:41 and didn't leave the store until 1:20. This is unacceptable. A gentleman did offer 30% refund on the order and promised that if there was an error in the order, he will have the correction delivered. The bill was over $110.First.. How could I give back 30% to each person's order that's been effected? Fare is Fare correct? so i told the man who offered it " i don't care what you do (with the refund) &" i meant it.Secondly .. It appears that 4 burgers was missing toppings. when i looked at the receipt from the store NOT the emailed receipt, I saw that the order was entered in incorrectly. We called the store and the food was delivered at 3:10. This location can not handle online orders on the weekends or large order.I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM OR REFER THIS LOCATION.

This Jake's Burgers location is like an outpost in the middle of nothing. It is all by itself on US-13 northbound. The parking area and interior are small but I haven't seen this place crowded so the space may be adequate. I've been there twice so far and service was very good both times. Also, the freshly-made burgers were about as good as I've ever had. Friends have recommended the milkshakes at this location, although I've yet to try those. I definitely will have to return. The only thing I'm wondering is why it took me two years to discover this place.

Horrible Service. After finally successfully placing an order online for 7 people, including myself, my dad is charged for the order and when we send out my brother and cousin to pick up the order they claim that we didn't order the food. So after they are given the online receipt and order number all they can say is sorry we didn't know about this order because it was online. Well how about this? If you can't be reliable to get the order then don't have an automatic charge to my card. Because that is bull crap. I've never ordered somewhere where they do not have to okay an order before it goes on the card. They also said we should have called, but that's not my job. I actually did call though twice and the phone was not answered either time. Once I decided to not support this business and now cancel my order, because I was not prepared to wait another 30 minutes for it, I was assured that my card would be refunded immediately. Of course that was not the case, as last I check my card was not refunded $60. I will check again in the next few days, but once again poor service.
